IL GIORNO –INSECURE STUDENTS. BEHIND THE SCENES PUSHY MOTHERS- DOTT. DANIELE NAPPO

24 marzo 2023

The Legal Representative, Dr. Daniele Nappo, in his article discusses a very serious and important topic: the role of the mother in the formation of a boy. It has been noted, in fact, that a mother who sets rigid rules does not create successful children but, on the contrary, generates insecure people with greater difficulties.

"The mother has two duties: to worry and to avoid" - E.M Forster
Being a mother is a journey as exciting as it is strewn with pitfalls, full of bridges and overhangs, tears and repairs. The children of nagging, uncontrollable mothers are more likely to be insecure, to have uncertainties, and to face greater hardships. Adolescents, in general, have many hopes and expectations to live up to with regard to their parents. Imposing strict rules by mothers does not produce more successful children: the more obsessive and insistent a mother is, the less success her children will achieve. Strict mothers have not yet understood that certainly one should not be friendly and permissive in everything with one's children, but neither should one be pushy and oppressive. Experts have estimated that setting high expectations to one's children will not push them to meet them and as a result they will work less without gaining more self-confidence than children of more relaxed parents. Strict mothers have, in short, less self-confident children. The mother walks poised like an acrobat between her being a mother and her being a woman and life partner. Nagging mothers are very demanding of their children's educational process, insist on higher grades, set high expectations The bond between a mother and child starts from afar, when the child is not yet in the womb but dwells in the heart. A mother's love sometimes becomes noose and encumbering. It becomes exaggeratedly suffocating, takes away air, vital spaces, cuts the wings to the growth and adult dimension of the child's existence. Of course, there are also fathers with the same characteristics, but in Italy schooling from the family point of view is entrusted, right or wrong, almost entirely to women.
