The Scientific High School Graduate

The Scientific High School Graduate has a good ability to read and analyze scientific phenomena and literary sources, and can skillfully connect the languages, theories, principles and conceptual systems proper to these subjects. He or she also achieves an excellent mastery of the English language.

At the Scientific High School, one learns to study and reflect, as well as problem-solving, faces the first experiences of laboratory research, and acquires year after year study skills and method, team-building skills and public speaking.

The scientific high school path fosters the acquisition of knowledge and methods specific to mathematics, physics and natural sciences. It guides the student to deepen and develop knowledge and skills, to mature the competencies necessary to follow the development of scientific and technological research and to identify the interactions between the different forms of knowledge, ensuring mastery of the related languages, techniques and methodologies, including through laboratory practice.

This course of study allows the student a high-level, up-to-date and modern preparation, expendable in different directions. The student of the Scientific High School  learns to:

  • learn about phenomena in the area of science and mathematics;
  • develop an excellent general culture, in the humanities, history and literature;
  • approach study with a critical spirit and mental elasticity;
  • deepen study topics independently;
  • argue competently and structure complex papers;
  • master statistical and computer tools.

At the end of the 5-year course of study, the graduate will have the following skills:

  • knows how to analyze the world with scientific method, identifying its laws and using the communicative language of scientific research;
  • will have acquired correct use of language according to different situations, both in written and oral form;
  • can easily apply working methods and perform experimental experiences in the laboratory;
  • masters the method of scientific inquiry, skillfully intersecting theory and experimental practice;
  • knows how to set up problem solving in other disciplines as well, whether from the scientific side or the historical, philosophical, humanistic side;
  • knows how to interpret data and organize them consciously, also applying them to daily life;
  • is able to establish relationships and understand human diversity and specificity;
  • masters the tools of calculation and representation, for the elaboration of conceptual maps to interpret dynamics of various kinds, including complex ones.
