On December 4, 2018, class 1^A Liceo Scienze Umane participated in the play "Stupefatto -I was 14 years old, drugs many more than me" at the Piccolo Teatro Strehler in Milan.
Itineraria Teatro has constructed a show, in the form of a narrative, entitled: "STUPEFATTO -I was 14 years old, drugs many more than me," which has been offered in the past three years to numerous middle and high schools, exceeding 70,000 attendees, in various regions of Italy. Students are correctly taught that drugs are bad for them, "seriously harming their health!" They, as they grow up, see friends having fun using drugs. They turn out to be more outgoing and cheerful. And here the Hamletic doubt creeps into their thoughts. Will they believe their friends? Or will the right parental recommendations prevail?
The show's effective approach and emotional charge manage to unhinge some commonplaces prevalent among the very young: "I quit when I want to"; - "Cigarettes are less bad for you than cigarettes"; - "They are natural drugs"; "I do it once...just to try it."
How is it possible to interest young people and succeed in engaging them in deep reflection on these issues? It is not easy in everyday life. It is not easy face-to-face, let alone confronting a large and diverse group. Professional theatrical means and acting experience are effective weapons to achieve the goal.
PURPOSE
The culture of getting high today represents one of the most disabling problems in the developmental path of adolescents, and the prevention activities implemented do not always produce the desired results.
The show aims to dismantle the most banal clichés that young people, not properly informed, can easily believe. The author uses the language of teens and warns against all the false beliefs that circulate these days.
