On Friday, March 29, 2019, all students of class 1^B of the ICT address of the S. Freud School will participate in the play “Il Reggimento parte all'alba -Storia di Ottavio Sebastiàn” at the Franco Parenti Theater located at Via Pier Lombardo,14, Milan.
CONTENTS
One of the finest portrait-stories written by Buzzati a few months before his death, Il reggimento parte all'alba is considered a kind of artistic and ideological testament of the writer.
It is the last moments of a man's life: Ottavio Sebastìan - the writer's narrative consciousness - is ready to leave everything to join his regiment that is waiting for him because “everyone without exception [...], everyone in a certain way belongs to a regiment (...) no one even knows which one is his, however when a regiment leaves, who belongs to it, he too must leave.”
But Octavius knows that he cannot leave if he has not first recovered the pieces of his soul.
Preparing for the journey is everything, and the man feels an urgent need to regain what has been lost over time, the bond with his mother and the foundational and ancient themes of his life.
The regiment leaves at dawn, and during the night it is possible and necessary to rediscover oneself as a man in the world, with a function, a purpose, a meaning.
With a large autobiographical component, this tale reflects Buzzati's relationship with death, places, and people (especially his mother) and conveys a very precise and modern idea of the world and of man, where the awareness of the necessary departure teaches how to look and listen with new eyes.
GOALS
The play is part of the multidisciplinary project THE NOSTALGY OF THE RETURN where the theme of travel is central, and in this case it will be about the journey of life.
Bringing children closer to the theater is indispensable, as students have the opportunity to enact processes of understanding different languages, reflect on the proposed theme and elaborate considerations by expressing their own point of view.
Participating in a play means learning through emotions.
