On November the 5th 2018 the students belonging to the 1^ A Tourism and 1^ A Human Science High School will take part in the field trip "the Altar for the Dead", a historical-cultural activity that will take place at the Cervantes Institute based in via Dante 12, 20121, Milan.
The Cervantes Institute is exibiting the "Altar for the Dead" for a few days in cooperation with the Mexican Consulate.
The “Altar for the Dead”is a homage to our family members or the dear ones who passed away to let them know we miss them.
According to the Mexican tradition, every year the dead ones leave on a trip to visit the living ones and they are welcomed with celebrations, food and other things that will help them to go back to their world.
The altars are generally made of two, three, up to seven layers.
In any case the lower layers represent the earth and the inter-world and the upper ones represent the heavenly dimension.
AIMS
- knowing and considering the historical and cultural view of many Mexican people as regards death.
- knowing how the celebrations are held on the Day of the Dead, a day full of merry and and celebrations.
PURPOSES
The specific purposes are:
- knowing the importance of different cultures;
- learning to be tolerant and respect the different ones;
- comparing the different traditions;
- improving the knowledge of Spanish and enhancing the related skills.
