15 aprile 2019
On Wednesday the 16th of April 2019 all the students of the classroom 4^ A Human Sciences, Economics and Social specialization will take part in the field trip “Museum of Risorgimento and historical places in Milan”.
CONTENTS
The Museum of Risorgimento has been based in palazzo Moriggia in Milan, Via Borgonuovo 23 since 1951, it was designed by Giuseppe Piermarini in 1775, it is located near the big complex of Brera.
Through its wide range of engravings, paintings, sculptures, drawings, weapons and memorabilia, the different collections show the period of the Italian history between the first campaign of Napoleon Bonaparte in Italiy (1796) and the annexation of Rome to the Reign of Italy (1870). The last display goes back to 2011 for the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy. By keeping the chronological sequence the exhibit is divided into 14 rooms where the most important collections are on display like the memorabilia of the coronation of Napoleon in Italy (the silver green garment and the precious royal arms) and the banner of the Cavalry of the Lombardy legion, the first Italian flag.
During the visit the students will be asked to take an active role by reading some historical documents that will be selected.
In order to support the students, they will be split into two teams and they will have to chose between two options: being the protagonists of the official history or showing the hidden soul of our Risorgimento.
Through the comparison between the unknown manuscripts belonging to the history of Risorgimento and the most famous patriots' thoughts the students will become the protagonists of the high ideals of our Risorgimento, of the daily difficulties, of the documents of the official history that are hardly ever remembered by our Country.
At the end of this visit we will visit other historical landmarks of Milan: the Statale University and the Sforzesco Castle. The Statale University of Milan, besides being a wonderful historical building that has been recently restyled is also an important centre of the European culture: this visit aims at showing the students the university environment and in particular the Department of Philosophy and its library. We will also have a tour of the Guastalla Gardens. The trip will finish with the visit of the Sforzesco Castle, the symbol of the city surrounded by the huge Sempione Park.
AIMS
Developing a different point of view about the Risorgimento in order to better understand the meaning of this very important historical event that represents the foundations of our country: the aim is connecting the fathers of the land with the ones who are unknown although they made a choice and they died for the ideals of freedom and changed the history.
