On Friday the 13th of April 2018 all the students of the classrooms 3^ A IT will take part in the field trip called “Milan in the Renaissance: searching for beuuty”, from 9.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m.
The field trip “Milan in the Renaissance: searching for beauty” is related to the follow-up of the historical and cultural development of the XVIth century when the Humanism made its ideas come true.
The individuals started to pursue the ideas of beauty, harmony, poise and decency and they were inspired by the ancient classics that were reinterpreted in a personal way in order to make perfect works according to an ideal model of beauty.
Nothing could be excluded from this “renaissance”: Milan, although it was still related to its Roman Gothic traditions could face the new ideals offered by the Humanism.
The city reached high artistic levels thanks to the patronage of the Duke Ludovico il Moro who called artists like Donato Bramante and Leonardo da Vinci who were in charge with renew the religious buildings as well as the palaces.
This field trip aims at highlighting the beauty that redesigned the city of Milan. The Sforzesco Castle and its huge rooms, the masterpieces like Bernabò Visconti a cavallo, the Sala delle Asse with the frescos by Leonardo da Vinci and the Pietà Rondanini, the last work by Michelangelo will introduce us to the court of the Visconti and the Sforza families, the noble families of Milan. The historical introduction will start at the Castle then it will continue along the city's streets to reach the church of San Satiro where Bramante designed and made a false apse by using an amazing view. We'll have the chance to see the perfect illusion of depth where the real space does not exist: it is a unique masterpiece in the history of art to which we can also add the wonderful vestry.
Our visit will finish with another masterpiece of architecture wanted by the Duke Francesco Sforza: the Ca’ Granda. A huge modern hospital that substituted the old city hospitals that were generally managed by the Church people.
This ospital aimed at treating the poor "sick people", welcome " the miserable people", the architecture was conceived by Filarete so to guarantee a perfect use of the space for the sick people who needed to be treated in the proper way and by focusing the attention on the state-of-the art hygiene. Ca’ Granda had represented a model for many centuries, a healing place and many patrons gave their important contribution starting with the Duke Francesco Sforza who promoted this important Institution.
