Final State Exam: students fear Covid mark as political 6
(ANSA) - MILAN, MAY 28 - Anxiety if not panic attacks, learning difficulties due to the reduction of direct relationships with teachers, and substandard preparation.
These are some of the difficulties detected in students for Distance Education (DAD) regarding the Final State exam.
However, another aspect emerges that is quite peculiar, but has its own logic in the perspective of the work as well: the fear of being considered “the promoted of Covid,” that is, facilitated as in the days of the “political 6” in '68. This is what a focus carried out by the Freud Joint Institute in Milan on the “sentiment” of the more than 700 young people who attend it shows.
About 50% fear being “labeled” by an easier promotion or a higher grade obtained thanks to the pandemic.
And nearly 60 percent believe that at the job interview stage “bias” could be created against students promoted last year or this year with “an early-career injury.”
On the other hand, more than 70 percent, also based on relationships with friends and acquaintances who attend other schools, consider the preparation of the last two years to be “below normal” even “through no one's fault.”
“There is sadness about not being able to share the final path with classmates according to our focus “Maturity 2021,” explains Freud director Daniele Nappo. “Students have difficulty sleeping when they think about the exam, they are filled with anxiety and negative thoughts because they cannot share their emotional experience.
This is not a problem to be underestimated, we need to intervene with supportive actions.
In addition, there is also the fear of being branded as the coronavirus high school seniors, that is, less prepared for college and the world of work. They have the idea that they will suffer to validate their preparation and skills. It should not be overlooked if young people do not dream of tomorrow, if they no longer feel the desire to be able to express their talents in society.”
