On March 11, 2024, students of the third classes of the Tourism address will take part in the educational outing THE ROMAN THEATER.
CONTENTS
An educational trip is proposed to discover the archaeological area of the Roman theater of Mediolanum built during the Augustan Empire. The theater most likely remained in use until the fourth century AD, remaining, in the following centuries, the fulcrum of public life in Milan: transforming itself from a place of entertainment in the imperial age, to a meeting place in the medieval age, for the citizens who gathered in the Assembly of the People during the communal era. The theater's discovery occurred in the late 19th and mid-20th centuries, during the historic constructions of the Chamber of Commerce (Palazzo Turati) and the Milan Stock Exchange (Palazzo Mezzanotte). In 2007, the Sensible Museum of the Roman Theater of Milan was opened inside the Palazzo Turati, allowing visitors to take a journey back in time with sensory involvement.
