10 febbraio 2025
On February 11, 2025, students will take part in the #fattivedere project film workshop to be held at the Cinema Anteo in Milan (Piazza Venticinque Aprile, 8) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
CONTENTS
The work of Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, former assistant to Scorsese and Inarritu, the delicate film about a teenager who closes himself off from life and a young woman with leukemia unhinges every “cancer movie” cliché. It speaks of friendship and not love, with a touching, not tear-jerking ending. In Pittsburgh, high schooler Greg, a kind of revised young Holden, lives by a strict rule: don't bond with anyone, avoid deep relationships, and survive high school with as little harm as possible. So much so that he prefers to consider Earl, the peer with whom he makes little parodies of favorite movies, rather a “colleague” than a friend. He cannot, however, escape pressure from Mom, who wants him to hang out with his neighbor Rachel, a high school student diagnosed with leukemia. From a relationship that began unwillingly, then roughly affectionate, will sprout a friendship that will change the boy's life. The story with opposite and complementary paths - Rachel is an early victim of evil, Greg opens up to life - has an unexpected first feature: it is not a love story, but one of chaste friendship. This will be followed by a discussion between students and scientific referees involved by Fondazione Umberto Veronesi.
