26 maggio 2024
On Monday, May 27, 2024, students in the fourth classes of the Liceo delle Scienze Umane address will take part in the educational outing to the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, Milan.
CONTENTS
The primary objective of the visit is to present the Ambrosiana collection starting from the thought and life of its founder, Federico Borromeo. The Cardinal collected one of the richest book and art collections of the 17th century. Inside the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, in addition to precious Flemish and Lombard and Venetian Renaissance paintings, major works addressed in class will be analyzed, such as the magnificent Preparatory Cartoon for Raphael's School of Athens, Caravaggio's Basket of Fruit, and Leonardo's Musico and Atlantic Codex. The course takes students to discover works that place great importance on the representation of reality. The “real” can be understood in many ways: the ability to express pictorially emotions and states of mind, a fundamental element for Leonardo and the Leonardesque, as well as the attention to the representation of the most minute details, very evident in the still lifes and landscapes created by the Flemish. With the Basket of Fruit, the innovations of Caravaggio's painting are illustrated in detail, but capable of realizing, through the genre of still life, an extraordinary allegory of human existence. Finally, we will conclude the itinerary with a preview of next year's program by considering the portraits of Hayez and Appiani that seem to refer back to the choices of modern photography.
