3 aprile 2024
On April 03, 2024, students of the fifth classes of Liceo delle Scienze Umane ind. Economico Sociale took part in the educational outing to the Mudec exhibition entitled Picasso. The metamorphosis of the figure.
CONTENTS
In this exhibition, the way in which Picasso grasped the essence and meaning of African art and assimilated it into his production throughout his life, from 1906 - a pivotal year for his production - to his last works of the 1960s is presented. With the return to "primitivism," around 1925, the artist extracted the tools of plastic language from African examples, but also from Neolithic and Proto-Iberian examples (of pre-Roman Spain), drawing inspiration from Oceanic art, the art of ancient Egypt and classical Greece (black figure vases). Picasso invents transpositions, reshaping figures with disproportionate volumes, in a constant metamorphosis of figures, and which will govern the evolution of his painting and sculpture, especially in moments of personal or social crisis.
