25 maggio 2023
On May 25 and 26, 2023, students in the third class of section B and C of the school address in Human Sciences will take part in the educational trip The Medieval Milan.
CONTENTS
An educational trip is proposed aimed at showing, by means of an itinerant guided tour, Medieval Milan: a historical-artistic itinerary that traces the milestones of the golden age of Medieval Milan. This itinerary is meant to be an invitation to delve into an important period of Milanese history by starting the tour to discover the symbolic places of the city and of Christianity, the Basilicas. The first one we will encounter will be the Basilica, of early Christian origin, Sant'Eustorgio near Porta Ticinese in which the relics of the Magi are kept; from here we will continue to the second stop, the Basilica of San Lorenzo, famous for its façade preceded by imposing columns; the last Basilica we will visit will be the second most important church in Milan, the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio, named after its founder as well as the patron saint of the city. We will also see the changes these Basilicas have undergone over the years. The tour will continue to the civil architecture of the Middle Ages, first with the Castello Sforzesco and then with Piazza dei Mercanti, which in the Middle Ages represented the commercial and administrative center of the city; the tour will end in Piazza Duomo where, while admiring the most important church in Milan, the Duomo, we will make comparisons between Romanesque and Gothic art.
