Giannini and Franceschini have signed a Protocol to promote the theatre and the cinema in the schools
Promoting the language and the culture of the cinema and the theatre in the schools is the aim of the Protocol of Understanding that was signed this morning by the Ministers Stefania Giannini and Dario Franceschini which marks a new chapter of the cooperation betwen the Ministry of Education, of University and Reasearch, the Cultural Heritage and Tourism. Thanks to the "Buona Scuola" (the good school) law many activities are going to be shared by the different Institutional Bodies in order to promote the teaching and the spreading of the arts as well as the cultural heritage and the reading.
“The school has always gone to the cinema up to now, we want to bring the cinema and the theatre to the school from now on. We'd like to offer the students two competition notices through which we intend to ask them to take part by sending their sripts and videos”, the Minister Stefania Giannini declared by adding that: “The school must ba a passive observer, the audience of these two art forms but it must also promote the active role of its students".
"The initiatives included in the Protocol, the Minister Franceschini explained follow the guidelines set by the "Buona Scuola "Law. They include the reintroduction of history as a subject to be studied at school and it continues with the equivalence of the degrees of the schools that belong to the Cultural Heritage Body, the 500 euros card for the 18 years old students aims at approaching them to the theatre, the cinema and the music through the possibility to buy books, the field of culture will also benefit from these incentives thanks to a financial backing of 290 milions of euros".
This Protocol also includes some training courses for the teachers regarding the cinema and the theatre, the possibility for the schools to take part in the festivals, the exhibitions and the the theatre shows, the organization of the National Festival of Theatre in the schoools and the World Theatre Day (27th of March), the Contemporary Culture Day (15th October) and the World Audio-visual Heritage Day (27th October). Two competition notices will also be offered , “Ciak - Si studia!” (let's study!) that invites all students to challenge themselves as scriptwriters, film directors and authors and “Scrivere il Teatro” (Writing for Theatre) that invites the students to become theatre writers by writing a script that is focused on the social issues.
