On Friday 10 December 2021, "Il Giorno" in the section "Piazza Lombardia - Beyond Covid" publishes the reflections of dr. Daniele Nappo, legal representative of the S. Freud Charter School, on the synergy between the world of school and work. In this modern and fluid society, it becomes imperative to engage in direct training for companies, increasing business teaching. Teachers must play a fundamental role, helping, thanks to their skills, the pupil to approach the business world by also reshaping the school calendar, allowing long-term internships, as is already used in Northern Europe. Therefore, the dialogue between these two worlds becomes essential.
The indications of the European Commission are clear: improve school results and adapt skills, especially digital ones. It is necessary to define the problems that schools and the world of work have with targeted interventions. Engaging in direct training for the company means increasing the chances of success, but it is necessary to act on the organization and on the so-called business teaching. We need a model that achieves greater synergy between education and work to fill the diversity between the skills required by the productive world and those offered by the educational system, creating new opportunities for young people and building innovation. Teachers must be trained so that they have preparation in digital skills with continuous professional updates. Also a reshaping of the school calendar for the school could be necessary, thus allowing a smaller gap in the passage between school years and a better reconciliation of school and work times as happens in many countries of Northern Europe. We know how much the economic system, from the world of services to production, stretches towards the complete digitization of developments and increasingly requires specific technical skills as well as a command of foreign languages. However, training in these fields is still reserved only for particular courses of study; to facilitate supply and demand, it is necessary to act on didactic integration. Learning programs must also include practical placement in the field. The end of a school cycle should coincide with entry into the world of work. It is necessary to build a synergy that gives advantages also from the social as well as the economic profile of the territory; the business world can combine new trends and innovations with the world of education. School-to-work alternation is a reality that needs to be strengthened. Today it is difficult to clearly identify the skills that will be useful because digital processes evolve with an unprecedented speed that the covid emergency itself has further accelerated. Purely technical training may not be sufficient in itself, but must be combined with transversal humanistic skills, which go beyond classic academic training. It is necessary to stimulate the dialogue between these two worlds, so that the designs contribute to creating the profiles that will then be needed to innovate and conquer competitiveness. "
