Dr. Nappo in this article draws, sharply, the responsibility of the School to its role, which also consists of always being able to consider the uniqueness and singularity of each student in order to implement targeted educational interventions.
The school must actively participate in the growth in the adolescent so that he/she can become a responsible person. Teachers must be clear about how delicate and constantly changing the boy/young person is at this stage of his life: those who occupy a demanding and institutional role such as that of the teacher must show prolixity of competence and a sense of proportion. One must be prepared for the evaluation of the human person, his or her singularity. Young people are not a homogeneous sociological category, and even less so are so-called bullies. The word "bullying" entered common knowledge less than 30 years ago: it pictures a state, but sometimes it is painted as a fate, as a fashion without, however, approaching the true meaning. Adolescents cannot be educated in piles, but must be evaluated one at a time even when participating in the same desks and in the same classroom. The uniqueness of the individual depends greatly on environmental stimulation and the personal way in which he or she will be formed. It is the human being: the beauty that is entrusted to those who educate, whether in school or when they engage in delicate institutional tasks, and it applies even when the student manifests violent behavior because one cannot choose who to educate. It is the human being: the beauty that is entrusted to those who educate, whether in school or when they engage in delicate institutional tasks, and it applies even when the student manifests violent behavior because one cannot choose who to educate. One must always do it, and when one is not able one must have the good sense to devote oneself to something else. By admission, without silences, it is good to admit that the environment in which young people are placed in school is itself violent: we can say this about society, about language, about politics, we have the verifications every day.
To label students alone the exclusive ownership of the bullying phenomenon is a mistake. The school is the first real stop of control of the adolescent's social skills, and those in charge should turn it into a precautionary center of all discomforts, even for that which manifests itself in violent forms; it takes proposals, tenacity, continuity, pedagogical projects. Sometimes anger and anguish take hold of some students who need to be listened to. It is from here that we must start to try to imagine solutions, taking responsibility. A school aware of its role cannot babble answers; the elementary grammar of education must be recovered.
