Dr. Nappo, in this article, emphasizes the role of the School as a suitable context for fostering sensitivity education to students, promoting their critical thinking, the promotion of empathy and understanding, making use, in addition to other tools, of the potential inherent in educational outings.
School must be a sphere of stimulation where the student encounters the opportunity to approach, through the thinking skills that develop right between the desks, the experience of learning with a sensitive attitude. Experiences grow them essential skills so that they can build, on a daily basis, significant educational and training potential. Knowledge and culture in general certainly offer support: they make young people develop in the best way, cure their sufferings. So we need preparation and mastery of knowledge in order to live better and not to be drawn away toward the ugliness of these dark times.
Students should be offered opportunities to make tangible connections with situations that facilitate growth and development so that they have a better chance to understand the value of life; the more sensitive explanation helps them to respect cultures and to know and experience, fully, multiculturalism. Sensitivity is first acquired at school; sensitivity as a culture should be transmitted at school age. Students must be offered, again, the skills to enthusiastically share an interdisciplinary path of sensitivity education that is to be introduced as an integral aspect in the classroom and that provides them with the appropriate information. A project that is capable of promoting multifaceted understanding, enhancing critical thinking skills and promoting the achievement of the breadth of lifelong acquisition. Schools need to focus on this more frequently and with more conviction by coming to give practical awareness; this is where children can and should grow their skills and ideas to cultivate them later individually.Experiences are part of a student's life that they can more easily conceptualize when they see rather than when they read; we make room for educational outings because they are exceptional moments that instill a sense of understanding for students, as well as motivation and promotion of empathy, critical thinking. This is the knowledge of the world that makes students good thinkers.
