Dr. Daniele Nappo, Legal Representative as well as Founder of the S. Freud Private School, draws attention to the tendency for parents to justify the mistakes made by their children and in particular the consideration toward teachers who try to correct students.
Parents have an increasing tendency to justify their children's mistakes in school when they get a low grade. It emerges from research that only one in three receive 'punishment' for a failing grade. There has been a lack of consideration for teachers: there has been a change in the direction of the 'educational pact,' the one that up to two decades provided for maximum family attention. Today, unfortunately, there seems to be a bias against teachers who try to correct students. The school remains one of the institutions in which parents entrust their children, but there is a failure to work in synergy between parents and teachers. When a teacher gives a grade below a passing grade, it is assumed that he or she does so on objective assessments and that he or she has the support of the student's mother and father. We live in a global society, but this should not mean that the role of teachers should be devalued, sometimes despised. On the contrary, it must be valued. They must be given due consideration and credibility, restoring the "educational pact." Once the reference points were home and school, today home, school and social media.There is a relationship of distrust between families and those who interpret, in the name of the state, the education of their children. It is most important to put in place tools that validate the work of the teacher. The constant attacks on teachers do not help because they undermine their authority. The violence that happens is not an isolated event, but part of a larger socio-cultural context: parents who justify their children's behavior contribute to the creation of individuals unable to deal with frustration and rejection. Social media have a significant influence on relationships and social dynamics. The relationship between parents and children has undergone radical transformations: while the change has been positive, it has worsened adolescents' view of society. Parents unwittingly give life lessons to their children by running into patterns discordant with what should be the rules. The most general mistake today's parents make is always being predisposed to cater to 'tantrums' and finding justification for every misbehavior.
