On Friday 1 October 2021, the Legal Representative of the S. Freud Charter School, Dr. Daniele Nappo, expresses his reflections on the world of education at the time of Covid, in the usual appointment published by the newspaper "Il Giorno".
In the reflection entitled "Sld Cases, An Agreement between School and Families", the Director of Upper School , argues that a useful collaboration between School and family concerning the roles and prerogatives of each institution.
SLD CASES , AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN SCHOOL AND FAMILY
Specific learning disorders, commonly called SLD, represent an innate condition of neurobiological origin.
However, it is perhaps less well known that students with this certification have a normal intelligence and are able to develop dynamic logic. They present difficulties related to reading, writing, calculating, phonological cognition and automation of various skills that depend on the different modes of function of neuronal networks.
The manifestation of the problems is influenced by the conditions in which the student finds himself; it is a characteristic written in the DNA, just like the height and color of the eyes. A welcoming, stimulating and pleasant school environment can therefore help them overcome difficulties in studying.
A diagnosis of the disorders at the right time allows you to immediately start a global intervention that involves the student, the family and the school, to identify compensatory and autonomy measures. It is essential to build a synergy that actively and consciously involves the three 'subjects'. If you are really at the center of a training project, you can express your potential to the fullest and overcome all kinds of difficulties.
The family must understand and accept the condition of their children: they must never lose sight of their role, they must essentially prefer the emotional bond, seeking precise and constant support and information in the school. As mentioned, the connection between student, school and family is fundamental to create concrete strategies, the collaboration between the parties is winning and the willingness to discuss with teachers to identify the most suitable compensatory tools is of substantial importance. The family must initiate the specialist counseling and diagnosis process.
The school will thus have the opportunity to develop a Pdp, that is a personalized learning plan, responding to the characteristics of the girl or boy. And it will elaborate in an individualized and specific way the indications of the compensatory tools and dispensative measures necessary to allow you to continue the learning path based on your skills. The training project is developed for each individual young person with the synergistic intervention of all the parties involved.
If this collaboration with the family and the school is a winning weapon, the same can be said of digital media (...) The new pedagogy is based on the idea according to which differences must be considered as a resource for education.
Together, and with the right tools, specific learning disorders can be defeated
