On Friday 13th August 2021,the Legal Representative of S. Freud School S. Freud, Dott. Daniele Nappo, expresses his thinking about the educational context at the time of Covid pandemic, in his weekly column published by the newspaper “Il Giorno”.
In the column“Piazza Lombarda: school, health and sport beyond Covid”, the School Director of the Upper School S. Freud ( ICT, Tourism and Management, Human Sciences) considers as relevant, from September, to have a precise plan for the resumption of School in total safety: not only teachers and ATA staff should be in possession of Green Pass, but it should be also necessary that all the students are vaccinated, for a serene school resumption, without mask or social distancing. Students, who don't want to get vaccinated, can attend online lessons.
Everybody at school: green pass for all students
The debate on the green pass is already open and concerns not only teachers, who should be the first ones to be obliged to get vaccinated but even students: to oblige only teachers to get vaccinated would be useless, if in class there are students without vaccine. This is a delicate topic and there is an open debate just in these days to avoid to arrive in September without a precise project. Vaccine is the best weapon to make possible the school resumption in presence in all safety. The reopening in September at school will be characterized by the Freen Pass, also because Delta Variant is causing more and more infections.
The percentage of vaccinated teachers is continuing to increase, it is also required that students start to follow this trend. Because of the pandemic, students have been penalized for years.
Distance Learning ( DL), even though useful in the course of health emergency, makes emerge relevant issues concerning the school organization, as tested in the recent Invalsi tests. We can't deny the right to study in presence to all students. I agree with the the obligatoriness of Green Pass. We can't allow to waste time without any planning of a future in all security.
School represents not only a investment in the future, but also an economic recovery and we are satisfied with idea of the Ministry of Education because the main principle consists in promoting a coming back to school in presence. Undoubtedly, our classrooms have to be safe environment, by respecting all the safety devices and the social distancing, but the certificate of completion of the vaccination procedure must be mandatory. The percentage of the vaccinated students, especially among the over-eighteen of Upper Schools- is very high: we are approaching to the 80%.
Young people - according to the data - are more responsible about the vaccination campaign in comparison to adults. By establishing the Green Pass at schools, by making the vaccine mandatory for all teachers and students over 12 is a reasonable choice. It would respond to the desire to make all students come back in presence at 100%, without obligation of social distancing and mask. Families are asking for information and many of the them are in favour of this action. The option for all students who don't want to be vaccinated and who won't obtain the Green Pass consists in online schooling. In these cases, e-learning is a winning card allowing to spare time without renouncing to a high level form of learning.
