On Friday 20 May 2022, Dr. Daniele Nappo, legal representative of the S. Freud Private School, publishes his reflections in the national newspaper “Il Giorno” talking about Generation Z and how important it is for expert figures to sensitize them to the protection and conscious use of their data on the internet.
“Generation Z, those born between 1995 and 2010, and less favorable than what is said to open up to the network, indeed teenagers want to be trained on the issues of privacy and protection on the internet; therefore we can do that contrary to what adults think, they are sensitive to these arguments. The school, with ad hoc courses, must help adolescents to understand the deceptions of the web; I aim and understand the meaning of "sensitive data" when you are active on web platforms and social networks, thus acquiring greater attention to real threats to be aware that sharing personal images is wrong or that personal data must be shared only with consent. These are issues that must be treated with awareness by specific and prepared people, we cannot think that a teenager goes on the web to look for answers on online safety or, worse, that he thinks on his own that he has sufficient knowledge. It is not enough to consult the regulations of the apps that are used in these cases to be and feel experts. At school we must set up digital education for the new generations. Teachers and parents must address these issues, leaving space for meetings with experts in the classroom, discussion groups, direct testimonials those who have experienced on their own experience the negative results of privacy violations or a superf icial to safety, to awareness videos and, why not, to a dedicated school subject with lessons that allow both a review of the most popular topics and the inclusion of less debated issues. It is hoped that teaching materials can be created at school to help students understand these issues in a stimulating way and with an innovative language. The teachers are the figures on which, at present, most of the digital education of children is based. Let's not forget it. "
