On Friday 4 February 2021, Dr. Daniele Nappo, legal representative of the S. Freud Charter School in Milan, illustrates his ideas on the usefulness of a creative approach within the school walls in the national newspaper "Il Giorno".
In a modern school, it is necessary to train students in creativity, imagination and invention, making sure to encourage a continuous evolution of the child, making his mind more and more elastic and inclined to innovation. The figure of the teacher is fundamental, who in this sense must be an example for the learner using teaching methods such as creative teaching, ie creative teaching, and creative learning, ie creative learning.
"By defining the concept of creativity at school it is possible that preconceptions are triggered, because creativity is often identified only in art: the artist would have only the right dimension of creative spirit. In a modern school, no longer built on the homologation of thought, the need for critical and creative training emerges. A creative student does not necessarily have to be a genius, but simply have imagination, invention, value its continuous evolution and transformation, have an elastic mind that is not dominated by preconceptions. Creativity at school produces and represents the student's ability to innovate and be ready for change in the processes involving training and knowledge. At the same time, creativity can be at the service of the school: a good teacher must show creativity to motivate students, to arouse their interests in an original way; it should not be confused as a moment of leisure or entertainment. Any educational activity cannot be defined as effective if there is no reflection on the before and after, a context must be created in which creativity can manifest itself. So the two elements are: novelty and adaptation; novelty to be understood as a content that is different each time and adaptation as freedom, not in an absolute sense, but from contexts established by the classroom-classroom environment. The ability to be creative therefore develops with targeted learning; contemporary school tends to develop thought and the search for more answers, but to do so it is necessary to formulate a request that really has several possible solutions. Creative teaching and creative learning are two values of managing creativity in the classroom. Creative teaching therefore consists in planning an out of the ordinary task with the aim of reconnecting knowledge. On the contrary, creative learning allows learning to be achieved thanks to creativity. A teacher who uses the theater to allow young people to reflect on the content of a text, on the meaning, promotes creative learning. Creativity is an increasingly complex aspect of contemporary society at different levels. One of the first levels is the creation of new objects, especially in the field of technology, which change the way we communicate. Fostering teachers' creativity expresses a new model of an authentic and effective school, made up of professional teachers. "
