Dr. Daniele Nappo, Legal Representative as well as Founder of S. Freud Private School, draws attention to the importance of conocescence of English, a language that is becoming increasingly central to the global economy and new emerging economies. As a result, proficiency in English is crucial for both the world of work and international communication.
Today, English is the lingua franca, And so. You have to speak English to move in globalization” (Édouard Philippe, French prime minister, Morocco World News, March 2, 2018). This is not as trite a statement as it may sound. Even more so that in the past decades English is the language of the global economy, and the so-called new economies (China, India, Russia, Brazil) have adapted. It is the global language for work, information, communication, games, television, movies, internet, music and social media.Schools, in general, have tried to increase the quality and quantity of hours of English language study resulting in an increase in the number of hours devoted to it, and the students' level of proficiency has actually improved. So many tools bring teachers and students from all over the world into communication, and Artificial Intelligence will accompany the teacher in the future. The future holds digital courses that are easier to access. customizable and on demand. The school must realize for each of its students an intermediate language level (B2). The study of the subject in schools today is a real confrontation, there is a greater habit of listening, dialogue, and interactive real-life situations, and the hours devoted to English are considered sufficient. As a result, the level attained is certainly more aligned and suited to the needs of the future professional. Despite all the incentives, however, the limitations of the public sector remain heavy: classes are too large, students' language abilities are too diverse, and teachers at the elementary level are not well prepared. Knowing a foreign language is increasingly important, both professionally and personally. And schools need to do more.
