In this time of bubbles and toasts, Dr. Nappo takes the opportunity to urge adequate education, even in schools, for a conscious consumption of alcohol by young people. The goal is to prevent young people from self-destructing without realizing it...
In Italy, unlike what happens in Anglo-Saxon or northern European countries, the culture of drinking alcohol is traditionally contained and linked to the rituals of the meal or convivial sociality. A balanced and conscious use is completely compatible with people's personal and social lives. Drinking uncontrollably or drinking at the wrong time, place, or for the wrong reason is drinking irresponsibly. Teenagers are the most vulnerable.
Young people drink more and more, we need to educate because too many people ruin themselves; Drinking in moderation or mindfully should be taught behind the school desk. Responsible alcohol use can pose serious risks to people's health and safety. Young people must be helped to understand the reasons: we must not pursue an absolute ban, it could become a weapon against us and become a greater stimulus to transgression, a solicitation to break the rules that are so "cool" among teenagers. It is therefore very important to raise awareness of the dangers.
It is an observation that young people ruin themselves with alcohol, without understanding what they are doing: it would be very useful if this issue were entered into schools not as an absolute prohibition, but precisely as education. You have to talk about it at the right time before it's too late: it becomes useless to despair afterwards, you need to interact immediately. Wine, grappa and spirits in general in our habit are linked to convivial, celebratory, festive and fun moments, but to think that often some young people just want to self-destruct is really regrettable and angry. It is necessary to teach it in schools, to make people understand that wine is a food. And as such we must prefer quality to quantity, since little is enough; The real concept is conscious drinking, you have to educate and make students understand the timing of consumption and how the body metabolizes is fundamental. The only way to keep young people safe from the risks of excessive drinking is to create in them an adequate awareness of the limit that separates the use of alcohol from abuse and the consequent ability to properly self-manage their behaviors.
