School and theater represents a perfect match for students. Through the practice of performance, a young person experiences his or her own emotions. Theater can help develop intellectual and affective skills useful in life.
The poetry of theater and school, a useful indeed necessary relationship. It is necessary to encourage, even at school and in education, the theatrical experience because the use and practice of theater can support the development of each person's intellectual and critical skills and enrich his or her emotions by offering new methodologies that stimulate and encourage expressive needs and participation in social life. The connection between two, seemingly distinct realities such as school and theater represents an input toward a renewal in the way teaching and learning are carried out: often in the school environment one discovers a continuous predisposition toward the closure and sectoriality, unfortunately, of subjects. Therefore, there is a need for a relationship between school and theater seen as an encounter, with activities in appropriate workshops, where students have the opportunity to experience and learn about theatrical techniques and poetics. Theater as an educational practice, where one is both actor and spectator at the same time. In school, theater takes on considerable value and feedback of the relationship of self with others and with reality. In the school environment it involves pedagogical and didactic aspects, a true acquisition of a vision of society, through the practice of performance. A sense of commitment and responsibility, without obligation. For a young person, a stage space can be regarded as an area where he or she can experiment and investigate. The value of affectivity emerges, which in the field of theater can be experienced by learning, observing and imagining. Thus encouraging the use of ways of relating with peers that clarify mutual correlations while valuing differences. Exchangeability plays a relevant role: educational paths arise where each child is strategically and effectively drawn into an adversarial in the direction of equality. A family climate certainly allows for an experience based on shared values and collaboration that are an important basis toward civic attitudes. Theater like life is a great play of parts, a huge comedy or tragedy depending on one's point of view, but it certainly represents, by far, the most amazing educational training activity one can dream of. The theater built at school must be experienced as an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary act that has as its goal not the performance but the encounter; doing theater allows one to overcome the disciplinary barriers that identify school.
