IL GIORNO – DECISION MAKING - IMPORTANT FEATURES FOR THE TEACHERS – DOTT. DANIELE NAPPO

7 gennaio 2022

On 7 January 2022 the national newspaper "Il Giorno" published the usual editorial by dr. Daniele Nappo, legal representative of the S. Freud School of Milan.

The modern teacher must be endowed with characteristics such as decision-making and assessment with the main objective of benefiting the participation and interest of their pupils by giving them knowledge that has concrete contents. In fact, students must not perceive the subjects and disciplines treated as abstract entities, but must be able to concretely use them in everyday life.

"The" job of a teacher "is qualified and characterized by a series of particularly important changing situations: from how to present the lesson, to how to offer the contents and above all how to evaluate the work done by the students, up to questioning whether the work done and explained it was not understood by those who have to learn. The "modern" teacher must be considered a professional entrepreneur of his responsible commitment who is faced with continuous decisions to make. Decision-making, from English decision-making, has as its principle the implementation of learning by proposing, to the society-class, a favorable place that can benefit the participation and interest of students, combining theoretical and practical knowledge, so that the theory becomes the support and content of a journey of reality; knowledge is transformed into a contextualized study replenished and provided with contents. Teaching arises from the analysis of the educational needs of their students and their skills and experiences. Then the teacher must master a sequence of tools and be equipped with assessments, evaluations, which can facilitate this knowledge. To create such an articulated model, the teacher must intrigue their children. The school must be a habitat of well-being for students, not a circle of survival; the presumed traditional schools are often set up and represented by a low harmony in the teacher-student relationship, by cold and formal relationships. Instead, it is necessary to commit, believe and stand out for a high degree of cohesion between the whole world that attends school: staff and young people. The purpose that drives the teachers' task is designed by creating a learning environment that makes their students feel good. The objective is described by the consolidation and differentiation of the training offer, for which the provisions, which teachers use, are aimed at expanding the proposed contents. In a modern or even better contemporary school, the evaluation is aimed at certainly ascertaining the knowledge of the contents and knowledge, but it is always set on the possession of procedures, on knowing how to do, on knowing how to use language. This is why, in this model, the teacher decides every day what to reward in the behavior of the students."
