On December 24, 2021, on Christmas Eve, Dr. Daniele Nappo, legal representative of the S. Freud Paritaria School, invites us to share through an editorial in “Il Giorno” a thought on the school that is changing and becoming smarter and more digital.
Today, more than ever, it becomes important to understand the virtual reality that surrounds us, in fact, information technology and home automation are part of our lives and we interact with them on a daily basis. Digital natives cannot fail to "speak" this language, so it becomes essential to bring coding to school
"Today's society makes us live in an environment, where everything is smart, where we manage our home systems from the mobile phone - that is, with home automation -, where many are close to virtual currency, where we live in virtual realities, where it always is more difficult to distinguish virtual reality from real one. Certainly computer science is part of our life, but we need to use it in the right way and to our advantage. valid for facing the present. In the National Digital School Plan, coding, which from English means programming, has a role of the utmost impact because in addition to being a language in general, it is increasingly becoming the language of people; just think that we converse on our mobile phones giving instructions for the agenda or for various programming. With the new students, so-called digital natives, we cannot fail to speak their language made up of apps, of social language, of multiple abbreviations. Coding in school is used to develop problem solving skills. The student must be increasingly put in a position to be able to achieve results independently and must be stimulated to do so in a short time with creative ability. The new teacher must develop in the new student a technological thinking made of reflections of procedures that can give the analysis and resolution tools to apply them to any problem. The reasoning is the real training even before the real computer competence. With coding the student must be guided to the conscious and responsible use of a design activity made up of reflection and consideration (...) Information technology and technology at school help a lot because they support and encourage the teacher to shorten a distance between him and the learner making him become a student of today but at the same time a citizen of tomorrow. A task that schools must increasingly feel, in order to fulfill a social commitment and maintain progress in step with modernity and the complexity of the future, is not a contradiction, which is already present."
