Project Sport at School- An Introduction

As you know, sports represents one of the most important means fot the global development of the personality of young people; sports- in all its forms- promotes and develops processes of socialization, evalutation and self-evaluation.

The teaching of P.E is included in the educational project of secondary schools and contributes to the development of human beingsand of citizens. ’

As a matter of fact, the primary objective of sports is to achieve the  psyco-physical wellness, to lead an healthy life-style  and to  avoid all what is detrimental to health (drugs, smoke, alcohol, improper nutrition, sedentariness ). Sports represents tenacity, costant committment  but also the sacrifice  to  achieve the final results.

Through sports, individuals are confronted with themselves and with the others, by recognizing their own limits and potentials. They get to know values, such as cooperation  – as a team -, loyalty  and respect of the rules.

The School “S. Freud”, that is conscious of the potentials connected to sports, wants to promote the project “Sports at School ”: the School organizes football tournaments and sports days addreessed to students, so that they can approach new disciplines.

Here are the primary aims the School wants to achieve theough the so-called project:

  1. To develop a process of socialization among students who take part to sports extra-curricular activities through innovative and different forms of aggregation as compared with the common P.E lesson.
  2. To let students achieve sports values, such as loyalty, fair play, cooperation and equality.
  3. To develop a community spirit, by putting aside every form of individualism, in order to achieve a mutual final result.
  4. To increase knowledge of sports and their rules.
  5. To live peacefully the results of the committment and accept every form of victory and defeat; you have to live "winning" with no ostentation and "losing" without animosity.
  6. To be self-aware of an healthy diet and of a wholesome life-style. Both aspects are very important for a competitive practice of sports.

In conclusion, the project aims at reducing or preventing possible critic situations related to deviant behaviours, such as bullyism, school drop-out, and the inclusion of students with disabilities or foreigners.
