APRIL 25 MILAN ALSO CELEBRATES “INTERNATIONAL GIRLS IN ICT DAY”: A DAY OF FEMALE HI-TECH

The idea, in collaboration with StemintheCity, intent on encouraging girls and young women to choose career paths in ICT, a fast-growing division where gender diversity is an enabling factor.

 

StemintheCity, an initiative of the City of Milan to bring the younger generation, particularly girls, closer to Stem (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) disciplines, supports the International girls in Ict day, which is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday in April and this year falls on April 25. “International girls in Ict day,” the City of Milan explained in a note, ”is a day promoted by the International Telecommunication union (Itu) to encourage girls and young women to consider career paths in Ict, a fast-growing sector in which gender diversity is an enabling factor for innovation. According to forecasts by Accenture, a leading global professional services firm, the opportunity is enormous: in fact, the new Getting to Equal 2019 research found that global gross domestic product could increase by up to $8 trillion over 10 years if innovative mindsets increased in all countries by 10 percent.” “In order to take full advantage of the scenarios offered by new technologies and encourage girls to pursue careers in Stem, the City of Milan, in collaboration with more than forty public and private partners, is making a series of events and training meetings available to students of all levels throughout the area of the Metropolitan City,” Palazzo Marino further announces. Informatics); 'Get inspired', speed mentoring for female college students to discover career paths in Stem in collaboration with leading Italian women's networks such as Angels for women, Inspiring Fifty, Mia, Young women network Valore D (Talent garden Calabiana, 8 may).  

 “On May 8, again, there is the #FromLeonardoAlloSpace - Travel to Your Age exhibition, designed by Lenovo in collaboration with the Air Force, where girls and boys can get firsthand experience of how technological innovation can take them anywhere. It's a journey in six directions-art, space, science, work, environment, talent-with virtual reality and other innovations. Experts from Lenovo, a scholar of Leonardo's works, Air Force pilots will speak. The exhibition, which will remain open until May 30, and the event will take place at the headquarters of the Air Force's First Air Region Command in Novelli Square 1. From May 6 to May 12, Science Week will take place, which involves City Hall 3 and includes a series of meetings including the play Games of Sforza: the 50 years that shook Milan (May 6, Via Zanoia) and the presentation of the book Scientists in Time: 100 Biographies edited by Liliana Moro and Sara Sesti (May 7, Libreria Temporibus illis),” concludes the note from the Milan City Council.
