The Travel Committee of the S. Freud Institute selected as its Study Trip destination for the 2011/2012 school year the city of Oxford, a world-famous center for its prestigious University, rich in tradition and culture but also a modern and important urban hub thriving with elegant stores, cinemas, theaters, museums, galleries and pubs.
Our students did their language internship in this city from March 18 to 25, 2012.
The formula chosen was full-board accommodation with highly selected families and attendance of English classes at the renowned Oxford School of English college, a British Council-recognized institution, where students had four hours of classes per day with teachers qualified to teach English for foreigners.
Teaching materials were provided by the school, and a certificate of attendance was issued to each student at the end of the course.
During all afternoons, Oxford School of English staff accompanied the students to explore the city, while a full day was reserved for a visit to London.
Below is the recollection of our accompanying teacher Prof. Maria Antonella Campisi.
"Oxford is a university town, collected, clean and student-friendly.
One breathes an air of culture and at the same time cosmopolitan also because of the contaminations with nearby London.
The setting was very suitable for receiving a school group because of the various cultural, leisure and sports opportunities it offered.
The group of students also greatly appreciated that the "accommodations" were in families that were also hosting university students from all over Europe: the exchange of cultures, the comparison of experiences with peers from other realities was a source of enthusiasm and growth for our youngsters.
An educational trip was then made to London where we visited the main attractions of the city, including Westminster Abbey, the Big Ban and Buckingham Palace."
Our students returned enthusiastic about the trip, united in friendships among classmates and in their relationships with the accompanying teachers.
